As a masters runner I depend on Kathy to keep me on the road. Last year when I was training for the San Francisco marathon one of my knees started aching after training runs. Kathy was able to resolve it immediately and my training went on uninterrupted.

Working with Kathy McConnell has been an incredible experience. Her knowledge and skill brought balance, better posture, and a significant decrease in tension throughout my entire body. During my adolescent years, I wore an orthopedic back brace as treatment for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Since that time, I have experienced recurring back and neck pain and was beginning to experience daily pain in my hips, knees, and ankles. Through the series of 10 Rolfing sessions, my body felt less tension and increased mobility. I felt some results after the first session and with each session in the series continued to see improvement in my balance, posture, and mobility. My hips and legs no longer ached and I felt more grounded and stable. The pain in my ankles left completely, and my knee pain reduced significantly. My left ribcage, which has always protruded abnormally, now appears normal and symmetrically balanced with the other side of my body. Two years after finishing the Rolfing series, I gave birth to my second child. Even though I was not experiencing any problems at the time, I returned to Kathy for a mini-series to alleviate any body effects from the pregnancy. Kathy evaluated the changes that took place during my pregnancy and performed a mini-series to restore any imbalances affecting my posture. I continue to feel that sense of balance and will maintain those effects periodically under Kathy's care. She understands the relationships that exist throughout the body and the way the body needs to support itself. Overall, my body feels more balanced, flexible and relaxed. I'm grateful for her support and dedication to her profession.

When I turned 40 I realized that if I didn't do something about my posture now, I would end up stooped over like my grandmother. I was a little afraid at first because I had heard it was painful. After just the first session I felt like I was standing up straighter and I could breathe better. There were some times when the work was pretty uncomfortable, but Kathy was very good about keeping within my pain limit. Now that I am done with the series I feel like I look better in my clothes, and I think I may have prevented the stooped over look I didn't want.
